Psalm 143

Psalm 143 is a wonderful example of how we can speak to our Lord God.

This psalm was written by King David.

O LORD, hear my prayer, listen to my cry for mercy; in your faithfulness and righteousness come to my relief.        Do not bring your servant into judgment, for no one living is righteous before you.        The enemy pursues me, he crushes me to the ground; he makes me dwell in darkness like those long dead.        So my spirit grows faint within me; my heart within me is dismayed.        I remember the days of long ago; I meditate on all your works and consider what your hands have done.        I spread out my hands to you; my soul thirsts for you like a parched land. Selah        Answer me quickly, O LORD; my spirit fails. Do not hide your face from me or I will be like those who go down to the pit.        Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul.        Rescue me from my enemies, O LORD, for I hide myself in you.        Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground.        For your name's sake, O LORD, preserve my life; in your righteousness, bring me out of trouble.        In your unfailing love, silence my enemies; destroy all my foes, for I am your servant.

A simplified way to understand Psalm 143:  Hear me Lord God, please be merciful to me, for only You are faithful and righteous.  Do not judge me.  My enemy crushes me to the ground.  Yet I think about all that You have done, and I reach up for You.  I need You with great thirst from my soul (see living water)!  Answer me Lord, for my spirit fails without You.  If You do not show Your Face to me I will go to down to the pit.  I have put my trust in You, so bring me Your Word of unfailing love.  Rescue me from my enemies since I hide myself in You.  Teach me to do Your will because You are my God.  I ask that Your Holy Spirit leads me.  For Your own sake, will and glory, and in your righteousness  preserve my life and get me out of trouble.  Through Your unfailing love, silence and destroy all my enemies, for I am Your servant.

Judge: Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,  Rom 8:1

Enemy: Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. 1 Peter 5:8

Living Water: Jesus answered her, "If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water." Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him. "For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; he will lead them to springs of living water. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes."  John 4:10,7:38; Rev 7:17

Pit:  And he opened the bottomless pit, and smoke arose out of the pit like the smoke of a great furnace. So the sun and the air were darkened because of the smoke of the pit. Rev 9:2   "Then He will also say to those on the left hand, "Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels" Matt 25:41
